U2 preparam novo album

«Os U2 estão a preparar o seu décimo segundo disco de originais.
Em declarações à Rolling Stone, o produtor Daniel Lanois, afirma que «o álbum está a fazer-se a si próprio».
Lanois, que produziu os álbuns "The Unforgettable Fire" (1984), "The Joshua Tree" (1987) e "Achtung, Baby" (1991), diz que foi convidado como escritor para este novo registo, juntamente com Brian Eno «fiz três sessões de escrita com Eno e os U2 - uma em Fez, Marrocos e duas em França. Está a correr muito bem».
O produtor filmou partes do encontro com a banda em Marrocos e incluiu-as no seu futuro documentário "Here Is What it Is", que tem estreia marcada para o Festival de Toronto em Setembro.
O último álbum dos U2 "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" foi editado em 2004.
Entretanto, o DVD "PopMart Live from Mexico City", gravado ao vivo na capital do México, chega ao mercado nacional no dia 10 de Setembro.»

Nome das musicas para o novo album!

O U2.com publicou os titulos que poderão integrar o próximo disco da banda:

"If I Could Live My Life Again" - Bono says this song is "inspired by the great Argentinian poet Joe Luis Borges." Bono said he had just begun the song while speaking with author Michka Assayas in December, 2005. Their interview appears as the extra material in the paperback version of Bono in Conversation with Michka Assayas.

"Love Is All We Have Left" - a song Bono named during his May, 2006, trip to Africa as one that he had recently written. "It’s like an old Broadway tune. I thought it was a Frank Sinatra song," Bono said.

"North Star," a song from the How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb sessions which included a guest organ appearance from Michael W. Smith. In this CCM article, Smith describes the song as a tribute to Johnny Cash.

"Mercy", one of the last songs to get cut from How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, described in Blender magazine as "a six-and-a-half-minute outpouring of U2 at its most uninhibitedly U2-ish"

"Lead Me In The Way I Should Go" -- a contender for Atomic Bomb first mentioned in this February, 2003, interview with Bono in Grammy Magazine

1º encontro cibernáutico

O U2Only vai realizar no próximo dia 27 (segunda-feira), o primeiro encontro cibernautico, que pretende reunir todos os fãs da banda para falar durante uma hora sobre os U2.
Este encontro será apenas uma experiencia que pretende testar o novo serviço de Chat do U2Only.
Este encontro irá decorrer entre as 21.30 e as 22.30 (hora portuguesa).
Caso tudo corra como o previsto, estes encontros poderão passar a ter caracter periodico juntando toda a comunidade U2niana.

U2 e Bono nomeados

Os U2 e Bono estão nomeados para a edição deste ano dos Video Music Awards. Os U2 estão nomeados para a categoria de «Most Earth Shattering Collaboration» pela colaboração com os Green Day no tema "The Saints Are Coming". Na mesma categoria encontram-se nomeados Akon & Eminem, Beyoncé & Shakira, Gwen Stefani & Akon e Justin Timberlake & Timbaland.
Bono está nomeado na nova categoria «Quadruple Threat of the Year» competindo com Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake e Kanye West.
