The Saints Are Coming Disponivel 2º!
«A versão que os U2 e os Green Day assinaram para «The Saints Are Coming» dos The Skids vai estar disponível para «download» a partir de segunda-feira.
As bandas interpretaram juntas a canção, ao vivo, na reabertura do Louisiana Superdome em Nova Orleães, no passado dia 25 de Setembro.Os lucros da venda do single, que chega às lojas dia 6 de Novembro, revertem para a Music Rising, um movimento de apoio aos músicos afectados pelo furacão Katrina em Nova Orleães e em toda a região do Golfo.
Music Rising é um projecto de The Edge, do produtor Bob Ezrin e do patrão da Gibson Guitars, Henry Juskiewicz. O objectivo da campanha é ajudar a reconstruir o coração musical e cultural desta região substituindo todos os instrumentos musicais perdidos durante o furacão.
«The Saints Are Coming» fará também parte da colectânea «U218 Singles», a ser editada no próximo dia 20 de Novembro, da qual faz ainda parte um tema inédito e ainda dezasseis das mais conhecidas canções da banda irlandesa. »

U2 promovem concurso para fãs
«Os U2 vão lançar um concurso com base em letras das músicas do seu próximo álbum, "U218". O vencedor habilita-se a poder ver, com tudo pago, o concerto da banda irlandesa no Aloha Stadium, no Havai, a 09 de Dezembro.
Para ganharem, os fãs do grupo têm de descobrir os banners que os U2 colocaram em vários sites, listados em U2.com, e onde se encontram excertos das letras.
Os fãs terão de juntar cada uma das mensagens que vêm associadas a esses excertos e, depois de reunidas as mensagens, deverão utilizá-las para responder a uma pergunta colocada no site do grupo.
O vencedor é anunciado a 06 de Novembro, semanas antes de "U218" ser lançado. O disco inclui temas gravados entre 1980 e 2004 e dois inéditos, nos quais se inclui 'The Saints Are Comming' - o single de apresentação que conta com a participação dos Green Day.»

O site oficial da banda avança com pormenores sobre o novo best of:
«.. is the title of the single disc 'best of' coming in just a few weeks. Featuring 16 of the band's best known songs, the album also includes two new tracks produced by Rick Rubin at Abbey Road Studios last month.
Still waiting to hear about the tracklisting but there will be a limited edition 'deluxe' version of the CD which includes a DVD featuring 10 songs from the Vertigo Tour stop in Milan last year. The 'best of' will also be released as a full length DVD with a collection of videos from 'U218 Singles'.
The first of the two new tracks is the collaboration with Green Day on The Skids’ 'The Saints Are Coming', released as a single later this month. »

«Universal Music's UK branch has registered four domain names that seem to give away the name of the just-announced "best of" album. The four names registered on Monday are:
U218.com
U218.net
U2eighteen.com
U2eighteen.net
That, plus the fact that the album will have 16 previously released tracks and two new songs, would appear to give away the name of the new collection»

Novo Best Of a caminho
O U2.com anunciou o lançamento de um novo Best Of dos U2 para 20 de Novembro, que contará com 16 sucessos da banda e dois temas novos:
«Sixteen of U2’s best known songs and two new tracks are on a single ‘Best of” CD released next month.
No word on a title for the album yet nor what the track-listing is but the release date is set for November 20th.
Along with 16 of the band’s best known songs (start predicting them now!) one of the two new tracks is the band’s collaboration with Green Day while the other is a brand new song.
Both were recorded during sessions at London’s Abbey Road last month and are produced by Rick Rubin.
Ahead of the new collection, the U2/Green Day version of The Skids’ track ‘The Saints Are Coming’ will be released as a digital download on 30th October and as a CD single on 6th November.
Proceeds from ‘The Saints’ will benefit Music Rising
The bands’ debuted the song live at the re-opening of the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans last Monday. Catch a stream of the live version here where it is also available for US-only download.
