OFICIAL - DVD Zoo TV a caminho!
É oficial!! O Dvd da Zoo Tv filmado em Sydney está a chegar:
«‘Zoo TV Live From Sydney’ is set for DVD release in September. As well as the legendary live show, now digitally remastered, the new release comes with a bonus DVD of live tracks, mini-documentaries and the inimitable ‘Video Confessional’.
Filmed at the Football Stadium in Sydney, Australia, in November 1993 - and now only available on something called VHS – the film is directed by David Mallet and produced by Ned O’Hanlon and Rocky Oldham. More on the background to the DVD release in the next few days, meantime, here’s the running order.

A partir de Julho já vai ser possivel comprar em Portugal o iPod U2 Special Edition por 364€:
«A Apple vai lançar em Julho no mercado português o novo iPod U2 Special Edition, resultado de uma parceria entre a empresa o grupo rock irlandês e a universal Music Group. O leitor de 30GB tem capacidade para armazenas 7500 músicas, 2500 fotos e mais de 75 horas de vídeo.
Baseado no iPod de 30 GB de quinta geração, o aparelho tem uma caixa preta em aço e uma click wheel vermelha, e está assinado pelos membros da banda. A aquisição do novo iPod U2 dá ainda direito a 30 minutos de vídeos exclusivos dos U2, que podem ser descarregados da loja virtual iTunes Music Store.
O aparelho vem ainda equipado com a nova tecnologia auto-sync da Apple, que permite o download automático de música digital, podcasts, fotos, audiobooksm vídeos, videoclips e séries de televisão para o iPod. O dispositivo será actualizado sempre que é ligado ao computador.

Music Rising vence prémio
A camapnha criada por Edge, Music Rising, venceu o prémio Gold Cause Marketing Halo Award por Best Transactional Campaign na 4ª edição do Cause Marketing Forum que se realizou no passado dia 13 de junho em Nova Iorque:
«The campaign, launched by U2’s the Edge, producer Bob Ezrin, Gibson Guitar Chairman and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, The Guitar Center Music Foundation, and MusiCares has aided over 1,600 Gulf Region musicians. Gibson produced 300 exclusively designed Music Rising Les Pauls, which were sold by Guitar Center. The $1 million raised went directly to Music Rising, which was facilitated by MusiCares and the Gibson Foundation.
“The Cause Marketing Halo Awards demonstrate the good that can be done when businesses and nonprofits team up,” said David Hessekiel, president of Cause Marketing Forum, Inc., the program’s organizer. “It’s a competition in which we all win.” Cause marketing is the strategy of building mutually beneficial alliances between companies and causes.

«Word is that it shouldn't be too long before we get more news on the postponed Vertigo Tour dates.
Arthur Fogel from TNA, the international promoters of U2’s Vertigo Tour told U2.com this week, “We've been working hard to get news for ticket holders and we hope to have some answers/an announcement within the next few weeks”.

Edge esteve presente na homenagem a Rory Gallagher:
«Edge has been speaking about Rory Gallagher at the unveiling of a statue to the legendary blues guitarist in Dublin.
'I always admired Rory as a musician and was later lucky enough to call him a friend,' said Edge. 'He was a huge influence on my life and his legacy will live on in hundreds of bands in this country.
'He laid the road for everyone in music. It is an honour to be here and lay tribute to the man and his work.'
The Rory Gallagher Guitar Sculpture was unveiled at a special ceremony in Dublin's Temple Bar on Friday night.»

Tony Bennett com Bono
Tony Bennett vai lançar o seu novo album a 26 de Setembro que conta com a participação de Bono, entre outros:
«The legendary jazz vocalist, set to celebrate his 80th birthday August 3, is ready to release his Duets album, which boasts a guest list that includes a who's who of the music world.
Tony Bennett: Duets, which will hit stores September 26, will feature Bennett singing with the likes of Barbra Streisand, Bono, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Sting, Dixie Chicks, John Legend, Juanes, Tim McGraw, Billy Joel, Elvis Costello, George Michael, Michael Buble, James Taylor, Diana Krall, and k.d. lang.

1095 dias! 1095 dias a colocar notícias sobre os U2 online, e não só.
O U2Only, cujo grande obreiro é o Vitor Marques, transformou um mero blog numa verdadeira fanzine de visita obrigatória entre os milhares de fãs portugueses.
Mas não só. Hoje, o U2Only compara-se, indubitavelmente a uma das melhores revistas da especialidade, trazendo não só notícias, como artigos de opinião de altíssima qualidade.
Se por mero acaso, pensam que é de empresa fácil tal trabalho, estão redondamente enganados. Dar aos fãs o melhor que acontece com a sua banda e, fazer disso seu hobby, sem qualquer contrapartida, é uma verdadeira tarefa herculiana, que obriga a uma pesquisa de muitas horas, por dia. Posso-o afirmar, eu que no início, tinha o meu blog direccionado para aí, até que o Vítor entrou no Weblog, e me deixou espaço para escrever sobre muitas outras coisas.
E, por vezes, sofre-se. Esforçamo-nos ao máximo para dar a conhecer a nossa banda de eleição com o maior carinho e empenhamento e, por vezes, nem sempre somos reconhecidos. Mas, isso é o menos, como por exemplo aconteceu quando nos esforçámos e tudo fizemos para que os U2 dessem dois concertos em Portugal em 2005, que não chegou a acontecer pelos circunstancionalismos objectivos que conhecemos, e devido a factores de ordem subjectiva, que dividiu a tribo U2niana e também teve repercussões na não vinda dos U2, infelizmente.
Comigo tudo começou há cerca de dois anos e meio quando fui bocejado pela sorte com um cd-single de “Electrical Storm”, só pelo facto de ter entrado na melhor Mailing List portuguesa dos U2, a U2Only.
Já antes conhecia o trabalho do Vitor, através do seu voluntarismo e empreendorismo, ao criar a melhor rádio dos U2 em Portugal na “Cotonete”, a U2Only. A partir daí, o nosso conhecimento, esforço e amizade crescente para tornar visível ao mundo que os U2 são a melhor banda do mundo, com profundas consciências sociais e humanas, aumentou e transformou aquilo que o U2Only é hoje: o melhor blog /site português U2niano e uma grande referência a nível mundial. De facto está entre os 10 melhores do mundo.
Vítor, da minha parte quero-te agradecer o teu altruísmo. Para mim, o U2only é sem dúvida, paragem diária obrigatória. E também te quero agradecer por me deixares fazer parte desse mundo que é o U2Oly, deixando-me compartilhar a tua amizade.
Os meus enormes parabéns e os meus mais sinceros agradecimentos!

Milhares em patrocinio!
A revista Fortuna revela os estrondosos numeros, que determinadas marcas pagaram para patrocinar o concerto dos U2 na Argentina:
«Según estimaciones del mercado, ninguno de los megasponsors habría aportado –tanto para los Stones como para U2– menos de u$s 1.000.000. Claro que este gasto fue prorrateado: Movistar, por ejemplo, lo habría repartido con sus proveedores de equipos, Nokia en el primer caso y Motorola en el segundo. Coca Cola será uno de los principales apoyos para el show de U2, según se comenta, a cambio de $ 1.000.000.
Los anunciantes que difundieron sus avisos en las tres tandas del recital de los Stones que transmitió Canal 13 debieron pagar $ 2.000 por segundo. La televisación local, además, implicó otra particularidad: la emisora obtuvo el derecho de contar con la banda inglesa en su pantalla por canje. Le habría cedido a cambio a Grinbank 10.000 segundos de publicidad para que el productor anuncie varios de sus recitales. Grinbank acordó con Telefé la televisación del show de los U2.
A la hora de hablar de cifras, Grinbank las guarda bajo siete llaves pero distintas fuentes del mercado aseguran que los Stones cobraron alrededor de u$s 700.000 por cada uno de los conciertos que brindó en Buenos Aires.
La recaudación aproximada por venta de entradas para los Stones fue de casi $ 33 millones, es decir unos u$s 11 millones. Otro tanto se espera por los shows de U2.
Del total de lo recaudado por la venta de entradas, Grinbank obtiene cerca del 10%. Del 90% restante, un 45% se destinó a gastos de infraestructura, un 25% se esfumó en impuestos, un 5% fue para la empresa de venta de tickets y la banda embolsó el 15%.
La banda liderada por Bono llegará a Buenos Aires como parte de su Vértigo Tour el 1 y 2 de marzo. Todo indica que el grupo filmará el show porteño con miras de hacer una película. Grinbank fue también el gestor de este tramo de la gira mundial, que comenzó en San Pablo y seguirá en Santiago de Chile. Allí, aseguró el productor, sólo con los ingresos de boletería el negocio cierra.»

Há exactamente 3 anos atrás, nascia o U2Only!!
Depois de um inicio atribulado e desde que o site ficou assente no Weblog, não paramos de crescer, sendo hoje uma referência, ultrapassadno as 900 visitas diárias e tendo batido vários recordes e fazendo história na internet nacional, nomeadamente, na rede dedicada a esta fabulosa banda! Actualmente somos visitados assiduamente nos cinco continentes, com especial destaque para a Europa e América do Sul.

U2 investem milhões no novo estudio
Os U2 irão investir cerca de... 36 milhões de euros na construção dos novos estudios em Dublin::
«Rock group U2 are embarking on their first residential development with a EU36m apartment development at 30-32 Sir John Rogerson's Quay in Dublin's south docklands.
The eight storey project will be smaller than the 35 storey tower on the top of which they will have a new recording studio. It is being developed by the Dublin Docklands Development Authority at Britain Quay on Grand Canal Harbour. U2's own project -- a 90 apartment development -- will be located closer to the city centre, to the west of the Ferryman pub, located near the corner with Macken St. It will be built in three blocks of eight storeys.
The new apartments will be a short distance along the quay from the EU55m DDDA tower which will accommodate U2's new recording studio on the top floor. A dedicated lift will bring the musicians directly from the entrance and, with its significant sound-proofing, the downstairs residents may not even know when they are around. Some 32 of the 35 storeys will be devoted to luxury apartments.
The other apartments on Sir John Rogerson's Quay will have frontage onto the frontage onto the Liffey and as a result the two bedroom units could fetch prices of over EU500,000 and three bedroom penthouses over EU1m.»

«Cala-te e canta!»
O actor Stephen Baldwin lançou um livro em que afirma que Deus é o responsavel pelos atentados do 11 de Setembro, do Furacão Katrina entre outras tragédias e pede a Bono para deixar de lado o seu activismo e limitar-se a cantar, pois Deus tratará de ajudar os mais pobres:
«The 40-year-old, who also starred in the classic "The Usual Suspects," believes God was involved in 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. "I came away from 9/11 saying to myself, 'I don't know what it is, but I have a feeling God is involved here,' " Marcus Baram reports on his site www.muckraked.com. "People wonder why God allows something like Hurricane Katrina. Turn it around and look at it from His point of view."
The book's not all hymns and sins. Baldwin has some advice for Bono: Shut up and sing. "You would do far more good if you preached the gospel of Jesus, rather than trying to get Third World debt relief," he wrote. "God will take care of that Third World country. RED no Mundial
Segundo avança o U2.Com, os jogadores da selecção inglesa usaram óculos de sol Girgio Armani Red:
«The English football team have been sporting the new Giorgio Armani Red sunglasses on the eve of the World Cup in Germany and Paul McGuinness has been talking about why U2 believe in the beautiful game. "There's something wonderfully democratic about soccer."
Jamie Carragher, Sol Campbell and goalkeeper David James took a break from training with the England team to try on the Armani Red shades, one of a series of high-profile RED products which help raise funds to fight the spread of AIDS in Africa.

Meanwhile, following U2¹s collaboration with a US TV network to promote the World Cup, manager Paul McGuinness has been talking to the New York Times about why the invitation intrigued the band.
"There's something wonderfully democratic about soccer," he explained. "It's the cheapest game in the world. All you need is a ball, and boys and girls can play it. Not that we're zealots, but we feel that soccer is a good thing, so our association with it is a good one."
He said that during a flight from Los Angeles to Mexico on the Vertigo Tour earlier in the year, Bono was so excited he grabbed the scripts for the promotional spots and acted them out for Edge, Adam and Larry.
U2's songs, live performance and voiceovers are all part of the ³One Game Changes Everything² campaign. In one a montage of children playing soccer around the world is set to "City of Blinding Lights." A second, about absenteeism during World Cup games, is punctuated by "Beautiful Day."
A third, about the Ivory Coast qualifying for the finals for the first time, is set to the music of "Where the Streets Have No Name."
McGuinness said the Ivory Coast spot "hit the nail on the head" for the band, "and resonated immediately." In it, visions of feuding factions in the country's war give way to a crowd of well-wishers cheering for their team as it prepared to board the flight to Germany for the World Cup.
"After three years of civil war, feuding factions talked for the first time in years," Bono says in his voice-over, "and the president called a truce because the Ivory Coast qualified for its first-ever World Cup."»

U2 ensaiam novos temas
Segundo avança o U2 Valencia, a banda está reunida em Nice, França, a gravar novos temas. The Edge convidou o realizador Alejandro González Iñárritu para ir a sua casa assistir ao trabalho, ao que o cineasta comentou:
«Acabo de comentar com o Sean Penn, que estava a brincar na sua cadeira, que ontem tive um jantar fantástico, The Edge (guitarrista da banda comandada por Bono) convidou-me para ir a sua casa perto da Riviera Francesa, onde os U2 estavam a ensaiar, foi bonito».

Chaplin confessa: «Quiz matar Bono»
Numa recente entrevista, Tom Chaplin, vocalista dos Keane, confessou que quando conheceu Bono, teve uma subita vontade... de o assassinar:
«Keane singer Tom Chaplin admitted that he got a strange urge to kill Bono when the pair met.
Chaplin and co. supported U2 on the American leg of the ‘Vertigo’ tour and says a weird thought came over him when he was backstage.
He told Q Magazine that he spotted some kitchen knives, saying: "The thought just came to me, 'I'll kill Bono.' Like when a Tube train's approaching and you get the urge to jump."
