Pré-venda para Oceania!
Já está disponivel a pré-venda de bilhetes para os espectaculos na Austrália e Nova Zelândia no U2.Com. A quantidade máxima de bilhetes por pessoa são 4. A pré-venda ocorrerá no dia 29 de Novembro, e a venda ao publico seráa 5 de Dezembro:

As someone who became a U2.Com Subscriber earlier in the year, and has never been able to participate in a fanclub presale, you can - if you so wish - buy up to 4 tickets in a presale to any one of the additional shows.
The first presale, for shows the in New Zealand and Australia (see dates below), will take place on Tuesday 29th November. (The public on sale date for these tickets is 5th December) . We have given you a ticketing code below. It gets you into the presale, you will need it to make your purchase and it's unique to you only.

Bono critica 1º Ministro do Canadá
Antes de subir ao palco para o concerto em Ottawa, Bono atacou o primeiro ministro canadiano, acusando-o de não cumprir com a promessa de destinar fundos para ajudas humanitárias em África. Com as eleições à porta, o ataque cai mal ao actual primeiro ministro, e Bono aproveitou para tecer duras criticas. A noticia é avançada pelo site oficial da banda:
«Bono was the talking point of the Canadian Press today, visiting the Capital on the eve of a national election.
Speaking at a Press conference Bono discussed the campaign to Make Poverty History, and the Canadian Prime Ministers lack of support for the 0.7 objective, 'I’m mystified actually by the man, at this point I just think it’s a huge opportunity that he’s missing out on.'
'The kind of Canada the world needs now' is a well-off country that 'does not forget the poverty of its past and the poverty of the present world'.
Pledging to 'talk to every leader I can, and just ask them, in an election month, to look at these issues and decide where they stand', Bono went on to speak further about Canada’s involvement with Make Poverty History. 'This is the Canada of big ideas … And inclusive big dreams. Today I did the rounds of the right and the left. We need you both.'
Before starting U2’s hit One, Bono spoke directly: “Prime Minister Martin, I write songs, You write history, Write us a chapter we can be proud of.' »

U2 no «60 minutos»
Os U2 foram entrevistados no famoso programa da CBS «60 minutes», em breve o programa poderá ser visto em Portugal na SIC Noticias. Aqui fica um excerto dessa entrevista:
« Bono has said when fans are screaming, it’s not about the band, it’s about them. “It's unexplainable what a song means to you. Because, remember, songs, it's not like a movie you see once or twice. A song, it gets under your skin and that's why [we] abandon ourselves to it,” says Bono. “It has a sense of kind of uplift, of getting airborne.”
“Everything feels possible. And maybe more things are possible than we think,” he adds.
And at every concert, the band tries to make that happen. Before the show, fans are asked to join a campaign to help end world poverty. And during the performance, Bono sings of social justice and argues for religious harmony.
Mullen says being Irish helped shape the bands’ political and social concerns. “I mean we lived all our lives with the terrorist situation in northern Ireland. And with the British army and seeing that on the news night after night, atrocity after atrocity,” says Mullen. “But more than anything else, for the British folks Irish people were all terrorists. So when we went to Britain, it was always a lot of resistance to U2. And that's why we came to America.” »

DVD Chicago em 1º
«O DVD «2005 Vertigo - Live from Chicago» dos U2 é o novo líder da tabela de vendas, destronando «Live 8», informou hoje a Associação Fonográfica Portuguesa.
«2005 Vertigo - Live from Chicago» entrou esta semana directamente para o primeiro lugar e é já duplo platina, por vendas superiores a 40.000 exemplares.
O DVD dos Xutos & Pontapés está, esta semana, no terceiro lugar.
Quanto a novidades, Keane com «Strangers» entrou directamente para o 5º lugar.

Edge ajuda vitimas do Katrina
The Edge, guitarrista dos U2, está a ajudar os musicos vitimas do furacão Katrina que destruiu a cidade de Nova Orleães, Estados Unidos da América:
«NEW ORLEANS, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- U2 guitarist the Edge and rock producer Bob Ezrin are working to replace every musical instrument lost to Hurricane Katrina.
Gibson Guitars and Guitar Center have pledged to help MusicRising, the initiative to replace destroyed instruments and ensure the Gulf Coast's musical heritage lives on, RollingStone.com reported.
"The idea that it would be just a place of history for music is awful to me," the Edge said. "Coming from Dublin in the '70s, when music was something you had to search out, I'd never dreamed that somewhere like New Orleans could exist. Music was coming out of the walls. It seemed not just a form of escapism, but like it was weaved into everybody's life."
Gibson is creating a custom guitar that will be sold at Guitar Centers and the two companies have pledged a minimum $1 million from its sales to the effort, Ezrin said.
MusicRising will start by replacing instruments lost by professional musicians then expand to churches, marching bands and schools.
"It's clearly achievable," the Edge said. "Something should be done and not just because New Orleans deserves it, but because the world needs New Orleans." »

U2 na Argentina
Segundo o brasileiro Folha de São Paulo os U2 irão também marcar presença na Argentina nos dias 1 e 2 de Março de 2006:
« Agora esquentou. Conforme esta coluna revelou em agosto, a banda irlandesa U2 já está com datas arranjadas para tocar no Brasil em 2006. Reportagem da Folha Online desta semana já até cravou as datas: 21 e 22 de fevereiro, um em SP, outro no Rio. Só que a Argentina dá como certos dois shows em março, dias 1 e 2 , então as datas podem mudar. Mais: a nova passagem da banda de Bono pelo Brasil deve ainda ter um terceiro show, de graça, na praia, com o ministro-cantor Gilberto Gil de convidado especial. Na apresentação da banda em San Francisco, na última quarta-feira, nos bastidores, amigo desta coluna viu o argentino Daniel Grinbank, empresário de shows responsável pela maioria das grandes turnês na América do Sul. Grinbank está nos EUA alinhavando as datas da tour do U2 por aqui. O amigo viu ainda mais duas coisas no show do U2 em San Fran. A atriz Winona Ryder bem alegre e a produção da banda do U2 bem zangada, com o roubo de dois computadores. Hum...»

Novo single a caminho!
Segundo noticia o AtU2, Original Of The Species é o próximo single a ser retirado do album «How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb»:
«"Original of the Species" arrived at U.S. radio stations today as the 5th single from HTDAAB. It's a 1-track CD labeled "single version," which clocks in at 4:29 -- about 10 seconds shorter than the album version. The song itself is different than the album version -- more strings, more guitar from Edge, and just generally louder and maybe "edgier" (bad pun). The liner notes indicate that strings were recorded at Wisseloord Studios, Hilversum, Holland (while the band was on tour in Holland in July).
Collectors will want to know that the single comes in a standard jewel case with catalog # INTR11595-2. »

Oficial, Tour continua para o ano!
E eis que se tornou oficial!
O site dos U2 revelou que de factoa tour irá continuar para o ano, não adiantando para já muitos pormenores:
«U2.com confirma em exclusivo que haverá a Vertigo//2006 tour.
Vertigo//2006 começará em Fevereiro com paragens previstas no Mexico, América do Sul, Nova Zelandia, Austrália e Japão.
Mais pormenores serão revelados nas próximas semanas. »

Justin Hawkins ataca Bono
«Numa entrevista recente, Justin Hawkins afirmou que detesta a atitude do vocalista dos U2 e quando questionado sobre que artista deveria arder no Inferno, Hawkins não hesitou em responder «Chris Martin».
O líder dos Darkness adiantou ainda «Quais são aqueles 7 pecados mortais? Ganância? Preguiça? Chamar Apple à tua filha? Ele é terrivelmente arrogante. Eu acho que ele tem um complexo narcisista.»
Nesta entrevista à revista Kerrang!, Hawkins comentou ainda o facto do vocalista dos Coldplay escrever «Fair Trade» na sua mão: «Se te preocupas sobre o comércio justo, então tatua isso na tua pele».
Sobre o líder dos U2, comentou: «Detesto pessoas que se consideram mais divinas que Deus. Foi como quando Bono conseguiu uma audiência com o Papa, foi tudo pelo seu próprio ego.» »

Vertigo 2005 - Live From Chicago é o DVD
A Best rock não podia deixar ao lado o lançamento do DVD da drigressão dos U2 que passou por Lisboa e vai dedicar um dia inteirinho à banda irlandesa.
No dia 14 de Novembro, vamos passar a todas as horas um tema do DVD, que foi gravado ao cico em Chicago, na primeira parte da Vertigo Tour.
Fica atento às emissões da Best Rock e segue as indicações dos animadores, porque tu vais poder ganahr um cópia do DVD no dia U2.
O primeiro ouvinte a conseguir acertar no excerto da musica gravada ao vivo pelos U2, ganha um DVD «Live in Chicago». As inscrições são feitasatravés da linha de valor acrescentado (760 300 730).

U2 na Nova Zelandia em 2006!
Segundo avança o site U2 New Zooland os U2 irão dar dois concertos na Nova Zelândia em Março de 2006 na cidade Auckland, no estádio Western Springs. O segundo concerto está previsto coincidir com o feriado nacional da Irlanda, dia de St Patrick.
A divulgação oficial das datas da 4ª légua da Vertigo Tour está prevista para a semana.

U2 no Brasil...e a dobrar!
Segundo a imprensa brasileira, os U2 terão assinado um contrato para dois concertos no Brasil já em Fevereiro nos dias 21 e 22.
Recorde-se que está previsto para breve o anuncio oficial da 4ª légua da Vertigo Tour que deverá passar pelo México, Brasil, Nova Zelandia e Austrália:
«A banda irlandesa U2 fechou contrato para fazer dois shows no Brasil em 2006. As datas estão marcadas: dias 21 e 22 de fevereiro do próximo ano.
Quem vai trazer a banda ao país é o empresário Luiz Oscar Niemeyer, do Rio de Janeiro --o mesmo que trará Rolling Stones para terras nacionais, também em fevereiro.
Grupo vem ao Brasil para shows da turnê "Vertigo"
Por enquanto, sabe-se que um dos shows será em São Paulo. Embora o local ainda vá ser definido, o mais provável é que seja no estádio do Morumbi. A outra apresentação está em aberto, mas deve ser reservada para o Rio.
Liderado por Bono Vox, o U2 esteve no Brasil duas vezes. A primeira passagem, em 1998, teve três shows, dois em São Paulo e um no Rio de Janeiro. A segunda viagem, em novembro de 2000, não teve apresentações --o grupo participou de programas de TV para divulgação de "All That You Can't Leave Behind" e gravou um clipe nas ruas do Rio.
As próximas apresentações no Brasil fazem parte da turnê "Vertigo", lançada no final de março passado, nos Estados Unidos, e idealizada para promover o CD "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb", lançado em novembro de 2004.
A América Latina aparece no mapa da turnê depois de quase 30 shows na América do Norte e mais algumas dezenas na Europa. Com 11 discos e 25 anos de carreira, o grupo vendeu mais de 120 milhões de cópias. »

Bono com Blunt em dueto!
Em declarações ao site Contact Music, James Blunt, o cantor do momento, revelou que Bono aceitou fazer consigo um dueto. Blunt diz ter conhecido Bono num bar fazendo-lhe aí a proposta, ao que Bono terá aceitado.
O britânico revela que os U2 sempre foram uma inspiração, e que Bono é um «verdadeiramente inspirador»
Blunt esteve na passada quinta feira em Portugal para receber o Prémio Revelação dos Prémios da MTV.

4ª Légua anunciada para a semana
Para a semana serão anunciadas as datas para a quarta légua da Vertig Tour//2006. Os países mais falados até ao momento a serem abrangidos pela légua são a Austrália, Nova Zelândia e México.

O U2Only está a acompanhar a 12ª edição dos EMA.
Até ao momento, o prémio ao qual os U2 estavam nomeados, Best Album, já foi entregue. Os Vencedores foram os Green Day pelo Album «American Ediot»
A segunda categoria a que os U2 concorriam, Best Rock, com o tema «Vertigo», também escapou à banda irlandesa, acabando por ser entregue a... Green Day pelo tema «American Idiot»
O Prémio Free Your Mind é entregue a Bob Geldof, entre outros, devido ao grande espectaculo Live 8.
O prémio de Melhor Banda fugiu dos U2 para ser entregue aos Gorillaz.
A melhor banda portuguesa foram os The Gift.

Uma dádiva, um bilhete!
A Cruz Vermelha Americana está a promover uma campanha original para obter mais dadores de sangue, sorteando bilhetes para os concertos dos U2 entre os dadores:
« The Pacific Northwest branch of the American Red Cross is holding a raffle for U2 tickets.
If you donate blood between Tuesday and Dec. 15, you're eligible for tickets to the sold out Dec. 19 concert at Portland's Rose Garden Arena. One set of tickets will be awarded.
Donors must be at least 16 years of age in Oregon, 17 in Washington (parental consent is necessary), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, and not have donated in the last 56 days. »

Bono e Geldof furiosos com Eminem!
Segundo avança o site IOL, Bob Geldof e Bono ficaram furiosos por Eminem não ter participado no Live 8:
«Live 8 organisers Bob Geldod and Bono were furious when rapper Eminem refused to return their phonecalls about performing at the poverty awareness bash.
They sent the Stan hitmaker photographs of African fans wearing Eminem t-shirts in an effort to persuade him to join the Live 8 line-up, only to be totally ignored.
Geldof says: "Bono called me while I was in Africa and said 'he's (Eminem) not calling me back. I've got these pictures of kids wearing Eminem and D-12 t-shirts and we got them sent off to Eminem's office but did we hear anything? It's sad."
He added: "If people don't want to do anything, then it's cool, I'm ok with that, but I wouldn't mind if they got back to us."»
